I wrote a story before Christmas about some of the dissent going on within COPE. But I have to say, my story was very milquetoast compared to this story reported by Carlito Pablo at the Georgia Straight. It reads like something taken directly from the pages of the Statement of the International Committee of the Fourth International.

Corrected link should be:
Linkname: COPE on verge of civil war | Georgia Straight, Vancouver’s News & Entertainment Weekly 18 Dec 2013
URL: http://www.straight.com/news/550071/cope-verge-civil-war
700 words.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but if Carole Taylor finally gave in, ran for mayor, and was elected, might she not be the oldest mayor in Vancouver history? The tiresome Taylor-for-Mayor hype has long since become The Political Story That Will Not Die. It comes around at least twice a year. Fantasists like Price and Geller (both of whom should know better) really, really need to scrub the stars from their eyes and move on.

Frances Bula knows all media and does buy from the streetside vendors of the WSWS on Main, The Drive and other urban areas including Spartakus books. on 684 East Hastings.
We don’t have samples of her youthful radical writing on and involvement in the French scene et alia.
Want to see a “statement from the Fourth International”? http://www.wsws.org/IML/fi_vol13_no1/fi_vol13_no1_facpdf.pdf
From Summer 1986 (130 pages long)
“The International Committee was a public faction of the Fourth International formed in 1953 by a number of national sections of the FI that disagreed with the course of the International Secretariat of the Fourth International led at that time by Michel Pablo (Raptis) and Ernest Mandel. ”
Note small difference in “Secretariat” and “Committee”
[ quick summary: nationmaster.com/encyclopedia/International-Committee-of-the-Fourth-International
[ Hmm. Is Carlito Pablo of the Georgia Straight a relative?? ]
And inevitable Wikipedia reference [see the History tab for editing arguments of the memory hole ]

For the next piece, an examination of public indignation at the bourgeois alliance of political decisions together with vast capitalist greed and shoddy workmanship against the current citizen-residents of international cities.
Examples will be WestBank and Onni developments in Vancouver, Victoria, Seattle and Portland, among others.
And as it is summer in the Antipodes,

I was so curious to know what was going on in COPE and then, lo and behold, this flood of articles and commentaries came out – also reading about it in The Courier and in the talkbacks at The Mainlander (which is run by young COPEsters). Lots of stuff about Fire This Time, which is quite interesting – one wonders what to make of it all.
