What is happening with the new Vancouver chief planner job?
Q: What’s going on with the City of Vancouver’s search for a new Chief Planner? Surely they’re getting close Frances. Any news?
A. Good question. I had heard there was a first round of interviews in May, second round in early June. Four candidates on shortlist. Told last week by city manager that announcement was imminent. Now I’m hearing rumours of some kind of glitch that has delayed things, may lead to a re-posting? That’s everything I know. (Well, not quite everything, but I do have to respect certain confidences.)

And a General Manager of Real Estate? Has there been any forward movement regarding that position?

Hmm, didn’t know they were also missing a GM of real estate. Anyway, as several knowledgeable people have reminded me, this hire above is for GM of development services. The one that’s still missing is the GM/Director of Planning. Still waiting. Something happened to stall it
