Why should only the paid media pundits get to do this? I’m sure this group has thoughts.
So do I, actually, but my brain is far too goose-and-turkey-logged to formulate them into anything coherent. But I can tell from the sporadic comments even over Christmas that many of you are still firing on all cylinders.

Time to get this started. For me, the Vancouver story of the year was the election. Whether Vision had pushed too hard and used up too much political capital (no, as it turned out); whether the new backers of the NPA could stage a come back (no, as it turned out); and whether COPE was done (yes, as it turned out).

One of the big stories in 2016 will likely take the form; (1) a new product is invented to solve an innocent little problem, (2) upon launch things go horribly wrong and chaos ensues, (3) eventually order is restored and everyone lives happily ever after.
This story might sound like this;
A group of computer students in Germany write an artificial intelligence program designed to locate the lowest cost apple pie in German franks. They dub their project Franken-bot and launch the program on the World Wide Web in February 2015. Things start to go haywire when Franken-bot interprets apple to mean computer and pie to mean solve for Pi. Soon every computer on the planet and in outer space is working on the solution to this insolvable problem. Server farms demand more and more power causing the electrical network to go down right across the planet. The blogosphere goes black and only returns on January 01, 2016 after snail mail is utilized to restore the web. Bloggers return on line only this time they have more questions than answers about the practice of punditry on New Years Day.

I rather expect the CPR lawsuit has served its real purpose, but, for what it’s worth, the Court has now come to the obvious conclusion and has dismissed the application for an injunction: http://www.courts.gov.bc.ca/jdb-txt/SC/15/00/2015BCSC0076.htm
